11th International Yoga Day – 21st June 2025
Today, on 21st June 2025, Vivekananda Shikshan Prashikshan Mahavidyalaya, Suroth, Rajasthan celebrated 11th International Yoga Day with full spirit and enthusiasm. The program was conducted by Mr. Banwari Pathak.

International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on 21st June across the globe. The day is dedicated to highlighting the importance, benefits, and global promotion of yoga. Yoga is a precious heritage of Indian culture – a science of balancing the body, mind, and soul.
Meaning and Significance of Yoga: The word “Yoga” is derived from Sanskrit, meaning “to unite.” It signifies the union of the individual soul with the supreme consciousness. Yoga is not just physical exercise; it is a discipline of the body, mind, and spirit that helps individuals live a better and meaningful life.
Explanation of History and Background of Yoga Day by Mr. Ramjani Khan The initiative of International Yoga Day was taken by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. On 27th September 2014, he proposed the idea during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Out of 193 countries, 177 nations supported the proposal, and on 11th December 2014, the UN declared 21st June as International Yoga Day. The first celebration took place on 21st June 2015.
Why 21st June was chosen: 21st June marks the Summer Solstice, the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere. This day holds deep spiritual, natural, and energetic significance, hence chosen for this global celebration.
