Today, on 12/03/2025, International Mathematics Day was celebrated at Vivekananda Teacher Training College, Surath, District Karauli (Rajasthan). The program was presided over by the college principal, Shri Banwari Pathak (Coordinator, NAAC). Shri Jahir Khan explained why Mathematics Day is celebrated and when it started.
He highlighted that International Mathematics Day was established following the 40th session of UNESCO in 2019, where the proposal to celebrate the significance of mathematics on March 14 was put forward. Consequently, from March 14, 2020, International Mathematics Day began to be observed with the objective of spreading awareness about mathematics, highlighting its beauty, usefulness, and its essential contributions to the world.
On this occasion, the college faculty member, Saloni Chhaprana, gave a speech on the topic of mathematics, emphasizing its applications. Student pulkit Jat elaborated on the usefulness of mathematics. Speaker Yogendra Mishra shared insights on Indian perspectives on mathematics, mathematical visions for the future, and significant inventions related to the subject.
In this program, speakers including Shri Ramshiv singh Gurjar, Shri Abdul Salim, Shri Prakash Chand, Shri Rangalal Jatav, Shri omveer Rawat, Shri Purushottam Jat, Shree Shyamsundar Dagur, Shree Vivek Dattatrey and others addressed the gathering. The faculty members and students participated actively, making the event successful. The principal praised the enthusiasm and efforts of the organizing committee and encouraged everyone to continue such educational initiative
